Why Himachal

Himachal Pradesh stretches from Shimla's colonial ridge and the Kullu valley's orchards to the Tibetan hills of Dharamshala and the moonscape of Spiti. It suits everything from a soft family week in Shimla and Manali to a hard-driving Spiti circuit or a Parvati valley honeymoon. Roads are winding and the season is long: green valleys from March, snow at the passes into June, Spiti open June to October, and skiing at Solang through winter.

  • Shimla's ridge, Mall Road and the toy train
  • Solang valley and the Atal Tunnel to Lahaul
  • Parvati valley: Kasol, Manikaran and Tosh
  • Spiti's Key monastery, Kaza and Chandratal
  • McLeod Ganj's Tibetan monasteries and Khajjiar
