Overview
Shimla and Manali remain the backbone of Himachal travel because the drive between them is beautiful and the two hill stations feel completely different. You spend two nights on Shimla's colonial ridge, take the Kullu valley road with rafting and shawl-weaving stops, and settle for three nights in Manali for Solang, the Atal Tunnel and old Manali's cafés and temples. Transport is private throughout, which matters on these roads, and hotels are picked for heating and valley-facing rooms rather than roadside convenience. Good for families and first-time Himachal travellers.
