About this journey
Overview
A walking-led Kashmir trip that keeps hotel comfort but spends the days on trails. You hike to Thajiwas glacier above Sonmarg, ramble the Aru and Lidderwat paths that open the Great Lakes route, and get a guided meadow walk at Doodhpathri away from the tour buses. A local mountain guide accompanies every hike, and distances stay in the 6–12km range so you need reasonable fitness rather than trekking experience. Evenings are hotel-based, hot and comfortable — no camping unless you ask us to add it. Fishing permits for the Lidder are included for anyone who wants a morning with a rod.

Airport pick-up, then a gentle afternoon: a shikara crossing to the lake's quieter western shore and a two-hour flat walk through Nigeen's poplar lanes to help you settle at 1,600m before the climbs begin.
