Dubai is one of the easiest long-weekend destinations for families, provided you resist the urge to see all of it. Distances look short on a map and stretch out considerably in afternoon traffic.
Day one should be arrival and nothing else. A pool afternoon and an early dinner reset everyone after a morning flight.
Put the Burj Khalifa on day two, booking the earliest slot available. The queues after eleven are genuinely long and the light at opening time is better anyway.
Day three is the desert safari. Book an evening slot with a family-friendly operator that offers gentler dune driving on request — some children love the bashing, some very much do not.
Save one full theme-park day for day four, then keep day five loose: old Dubai by abra in the morning, beach in the afternoon, and home with everyone still speaking to each other.
