Built for travellers who want Sikkim beyond Gangtok, this 6-night adventure heads deep into the restricted North Sikkim district. After acclimatising in Gangtok, you drive through the Teesta gorge to Lachung village, then continue to the Yumthang Valley's rhododendron meadows and hot springs, and attempt Gurudongmar Lake at over 5,100 metres, one of the highest lakes accessible by road in the world. Travel is in shared or private permit jeeps with local Sikkimese drivers who know the terrain, and nights are spent in basic but heated guesthouses since North Sikkim has limited hotel infrastructure. Expect long driving days, cold temperatures even in summer, and genuinely dramatic mountain scenery that few standard Sikkim tours reach.

Day-by-day itinerary
Fly or take the train into Bagdogra/NJP and drive roughly 4-5 hours to Gangtok at 1,650 metres through the Teesta valley. Spend the evening acclimatising with a gentle walk along MG Marg before an early dinner.
