This circuit trades palace-hopping for the raw drama of western Rajasthan: Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort towering over blue-washed lanes, Jaisalmer's living sandstone fort rising from the Thar desert, and a night camping among the dunes at Sam. Days include a jeep safari through village tracks, a camel ride into the dunes for sunset, and a folk music evening around the campfire before sleeping in Swiss tents. Between the two cities you stop at Osian's ancient temples and drive through genuinely empty desert highway stretches, giving a sense of scale that Rajasthan's eastern circuit doesn't offer.
