Why Goa

Goa is two coastlines in one state. The north — Candolim, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator — runs on cafés, markets and nightlife, while the south from Colva to Palolem keeps long, quiet beaches and five-star resorts set in gardens. Inland there is Old Goa's basilicas, Panjim's Latin quarter and the Western Ghats with Dudhsagar falls and spice plantations. Peak season is November to February; the monsoon months are green, cheap and surprisingly good for the hinterland.

  • Palolem and Radhanagar-quiet south beaches
  • Basilica of Bom Jesus and Old Goa's churches
  • Fontainhas, Panjim's Portuguese quarter
  • Dudhsagar falls and Western Ghats plantations
  • Mandovi sunset cruises and dolphin boats
